The Park Connection trip from Denali Park to the port city of Whittier travels nearly 300 miles includes one bus transfer and travels through the longest highway tunnel in North America. The motorcoach heads south from Denali on the Parks Highway through Broad Pass, one of the most scenic areas on this highway. Watch for moose and caribou and as you continue south you may enjoy beautiful views of Mt. Denali, weather permitting. The motorcoach makes a brief stop in Talkeetna before continuing on to Anchorage. You will pass through Wasilla, the largest community in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, and then merge onto the Glenn Highway after which you will skirt the Chugach Mountains the last thirty-five miles into Anchorage. The motorcoach will stop at the Dena'ina Civic Center where you will identify your luggage to be transferred to the motorcoach destined for Whittier. Enjoy a lunch break on your own in downtown Anchorage before the final leg of the journey to your cruise ship. Travel on the Seward Highway, a National Scenic Byway, along the Turnagain Arm. The Turnagain Arm sits between the Kenai and Chugach Mountains and offers truly spectacular Alaskan scenery all the way to Portage where the motorcoach turns off the highway onto the Whittier access road. Enjoy the sights in Portage Glacier Valley before arriving at the entrance to the Whittier Tunnel. This 2.5 mile tunnel is a one way tunnel shared with the Alaska Railroad and is the only way to get to Whittier. The motorcoach will go directly to the cruise ship terminal upon arriving in Whittier.
