The Talkeetna area is a popular destination for visitors seeking the wonder of Mt. Denali. From Anchorage the motorcoach heads north via the Glenn Highway passing the military facility Joint Base Elmendorf and Richardson, known to locals as JBER, and the growing community of Eagle River. After entering the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, your journey continues north on the Parks Highway passing through Wasilla. You will then pass many popular recreation and fishing areas such as Big Lake and Deshka Landing which provides access to one of South-central Alaska’s best salmon fisheries.
The Park Connection bus line offers two trips daily between Anchorage and Talkeetna. The morning departure is on our “Denali Express” route, while the afternoon trip is part of our “Park to Park” service. Both trips travel about 112 miles and take about two-and-a-half hours. Our stop in Talkeetna is at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. This is a fabulous lodge just a mile or so from town, and we can also make reservations for you at the lodge, if needed.
