The motorcoach trip from Seward to Denali Park travels over 350 miles and is an all day journey along three highways - the Seward, the Glenn and the Parks Highways. The trip begins on the scenic Seward Highway. Travel through the Kenai Mountains before descending to the Turnagain Arm which features the highest tidal range in the United States. Enjoy the views of Portage Valley and Girdwood Valley as you follow the Turnagain Arm into Anchorage. Upon arrival in Anchorage you will stop downtown at the Dena'ina Civic Center for a lunch break on your own. Your journey continues with a 112 mile drive to Talkeetna. Follow the Glenn Highway along the Chugach Mountains, across the Knik River to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley region. The coach turns north onto the Parks Highway. The trip takes you through Wasilla, home to Sarah Palin - 2008 Vice Presidential candidate. Watch for views of Mt. Denali if the weather is clear. The bus takes a brief detour onto the Talkeetna Spur Road to the town of Talkeetna for a short stop. The final leg of your adventure goes from Talkeetna to Denali Park, covers 150 miles, and takes about three hours. The route continues on the Parks Highway over the Chulitna River and Hurricane Gulch and on to Broad Pass, one of the most scenic areas on this highway. Watch for moose and caribou through the pass. Pass by the town of Cantwell before arriving into the Denali Park area.
The trip from Seward to Denali National Park is part of the Park Connection's “Park to Park” route. The Park Connection Alaska bus line is the only transportation service that connects these two popular visitor destinations in one day. The motorcoach departs late morning from the Seward Small Boat Harbor, Gateway Hotel, and the Seward Windsong Lodge. We also offer a special departure directly from the cruise ship dock on select cruise ship days. Enjoy a lunch stop on your own in downtown Anchorage. The motorcoach continues onto Denali at 3:00pm. Upon arrival in Denali, the motorcoach offers drop offs at the Denali Cabins, Denali Park Village, Grande Denali Lodge, McKinley Chalet, Denali Princess Lodge and Denali Bluffs Hotel.
